GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided to reduce the Higher Secondary syllabus by 30 per cent for the 2020-21 academic year due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. The decision has been taken at the academic council meeting of the AHSEC. According to reports, the AHSEC has sent the proposal to the education department for the approval. AHSEC secretary Manoranjan Kakati told media persons that only 60-70 per cent students have been reached out through the online classes that have been initiated due to the novel Coronavirus outbreak. The council will publish the new syllabus through the official website.  The examinations for HS first and second years will be held based on the new syllabus. It needs to be mentioned that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has already rationalised its 2020-21 syllabus by 30 per cent for Class IX to Class XII.
